For your own piece of mind you need to know that the person who is going to repair or service your caravan or motorhome is properly trained and has the necessary industry qualifications.
Both Michael and Joe are members of the Approved Workshop Scheme. This is a joint enterprise between the National Caravan Council, The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club. It is also supported by all the major UK tourer and motorhome manufacturers.
To be part of the Scheme, workshops must pass an annual inspection by a team of independent assessors and comply with the Scheme’s rigorous standards, as well as holding up to date industry qualifications.
Michael is a member of the Mobile Caravan Engineers Association. The MCEA is the UK’s largest network of independent caravan service engineers, and is the UK’s leading training provider for mobile caravan servicing. All MCEA engineers have achieved a level of competence to be able to service a caravan.
Michael is Gas Safe registered. His registration covers ‘Core LPG Safety for Leisure Accommodation Vehicles’; Core LPG Safety for Residential Park Homes’; ‘Closed Flue Gas Fires’; ‘Gas Cooking Appliances’; ‘Central Heating, Hot Water Boilers, Combi Boilers, Storage Water Heaters and Instantaneous Water Heaters’; ‘Caravan Gas Water Heaters’; ‘Caravan Gas Refrigerators’; and ‘Caravan Space Heaters’.
Joe has obtained the ‘Standards of Training in Gas Work’ (STGW) qualification. The STGW qualification is made up of a number of mandatory core and appliance unit modules. This allows him to service, repair and maintain LPG gas systems on privately owned touring caravans and motorhomes.
Both have also obtained ‘Electrical Testing and Inspection Competency Level 2’, and ‘Electrical Extra Low Voltage Systems, Equipment and Circuits’ accreditation through CITO. In addition they have both passed the City and Guilds Caravan Service Engineering practical and written exams.
Michael has attended the Truma training courses covering the C series, D series, E series and S series heaters; Ultrastore; Ultraheat; fan systems; Sapphire air conditioning units; original Truma caravan movers and the new generation movers.
Having received ‘light axle’ training from the company, both Michael and Joe are authorised to work on BPW chasses, transmission devices, axles, brakes, hitches, running gear, and the ‘Intelligent Drive Control’ system.
Michael has received training by AL-KO Kober. He is authorised by the company to work on AL-KO chasses, brakes, overrun systems, stabiliser systems, and the ‘AL-KO Secure’ anti-theft system.
Following training, Michael has been authorised by Alde UK to carry out repairs to ‘Compact 3020′,’Compact 3010’, ‘Compact 3000′, Comfort 2923’ and ‘Comfort 2928’ heating systems on their behalf.
Michael has been trained by Thetford and is authorised to repair the company’s range of cassette toilets, cookers and fridges.
Michael has been trained by engineers at Whale to carry out warranty work and repairs on the company’s full range of space and water heaters.
Michael has passed the City and Guilds 2382-12 qualification covering the Requirements for Electrical Installations: IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition (BS 7671:2008 incorporating amendment no 1: 2011). He has also passed the Level 3 qualifications for the Management Requirements for Maintenance of Electrical Equipment; In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment; Domestic Installer; and Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings.
Michael has successfully completed the ‘National Trailer and Towing Association’ Level 3 courses in ‘Trailer Electrical and Mechanical Systems’; and in ‘Trailer Servicing and Maintenance’.
Michael is an approved service partner with the Dometic Group. He is authorised to carry out repairs, service and replace items under warranty. This includes the full range of fridges, air conditioning units, and cassette toilets.
Michael has obtained the ‘Excellence, Achievement and Learning’ Level 3 awards in ‘The Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Systems’ and in ‘The Periodic Inspection, Testing and Cetification of Electrical Installations.
